Mental Health is an important issue to address when talking about mental health. Mental health encompasses an individual’s mental or emotional well being. It’s the state of an individual that is “functioning within a satisfactory range of emotional and/or behavioral adjustment.” It could also be termed as “a state of wellness that is a product of the person’s lifestyle, cognitive processes and experiences.” The definition of this term is more complex than that, however. Mental Health can consist of many different aspects, some of which may not involve mental health issues.

For example, an individual’s life, their behavior, the circumstances in which they exist in their lives, and the other people in their life all impact how they cope with their issues. When dealing with a situation that involves an issue, an individual’s mental health can include the factors that are influencing their problem. It can include whether or not they have friends, the amount of money they have and the type of support that they have from others in their lives. Some individuals feel as though they have an inner void that causes the problems, and they may not be able to get out of it. This could lead to depression, anxiety or stress. If this is the case, the issue will manifest itself in their behavior, their mental state, and in their interactions with other people. All these elements can affect their mental health.

Understanding what mental health is, takes away many of the misconceptions and lies that are being told about it. Some people think that it only applies to children. They think that it is something that can’t be treated, and nothing can be done to change it. This couldn’t be further from the truth. The reality is that it doesn’t need to be cured, but just managed. People need to learn to be patient with themselves, their friends and the people they interact with on a daily basis. Learning to recognize and manage the different symptoms of the mental illnesses that they suffer from will be the first step towards improving their quality of life.
