Banner – University Medical Center in Tucson AZ, formerly University Hospital and University Medical Center, is an acute care teaching hospital located on the Campus of the University of Tucson in Tucson Arizona. The medical center is dedicated to serving and providing health services to patients in both the community and throughout the state. The University medical centre is one of only two hospitals in Arizona to achieve the status of a “super specialty” hospital, as designated by the United States Department of Defense (DoD). This designation means that the hospital is able to offer the services and treatment required for specific clinical requirements, whether they be from the military or civilian populations. The hospital is also accredited by the Association of Specialty Programs in Global Medicine (ASPGM), an organization that evaluates hospitals on their clinical practice standards and effectiveness. In addition, the hospital is accredited by the Arizona State Board of Medical Examiners (ASBME).
