Harris Anne E PhD in Scottsdale AZ has written a very interesting book entitled, “Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance” (New York Times Book Review) about her experiences as a child psychologist who found joy and happiness in helping children with various difficulties. I would suggest that it is not an easy read, but if you enjoy the classics, it is sure to be worth a read.
The book was written during the Great Depression, and there are stories of great parents who had to work double time to support their family. I have to admit, as a mom who had to go back to college after giving birth to my first child, I loved hearing how difficult the job was. There was nothing glamorous about the job, but I appreciated that mothers were able to provide a better life for their children. I also enjoyed listening to the hardships that these mothers were facing. I guess I just wanted to do the same. It is a hard thing to do, but I know that I am grateful for the work that I did and it gave me the opportunity to teach and mentor my daughter.
I believe that this book can help many mothers understand the importance of maintaining positive relationships with children when they are young. There are so many women out there who think that being a single mom means they have no other options available to them, but it is possible to make a better living for your kids when you have a good attitude and you are loving and positive. If you haven’t checked out this amazing new book, I highly recommend you do so today.
