“Transitional Housing”transitional living” is an alternative to traditional housing programs. “Transitional housing is meant to be short-term living arrangements intended to provide temporary and transitional assistance to individuals recovering from substance abuse alcohol addiction and mental illness usually for a number of months” according to the National Council on Alcoholism & Drug Dependence. This service is usually offered by an alcohol and drug rehab facility or other residential treatment facility.
