The Pinal Gila Council for Senior Citizens in Tucson AZ, which has been a member of the National Senior Citizens Council for over 30 years, is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping senior citizens. The Council is one of only four Senior Citizens Councils that is located in all 50 states and the District of Columbia and provides many resources and assistance for those who are older and need it.
In order to become a member of the Council, you must be a senior citizen who has a residence in Tucson and at least 60 years old. You can also join if you reside in the Tucson area but are not a resident of Tucson. If you are a resident of Tucson but are a non-citizen, the Tucson City Attorney is more than willing to give you an immigrant visa if you are a senior citizen with a residence in Arizona. If you’re a resident of Arizona but you’re a non-citizen, you may have to visit the Tucson City Attorney or has your Social Security Number verified by the Tucson City Clerk.
By becoming a member of the Council, you will have access to information about how you can apply for a government grant, grants that are provided by various businesses, educational assistance and many more benefits. You will also have access to a library of books, e-books and other materials that are helpful to you as you mature. You can also access the Internet on the Council’s website for many articles, resources and tips to help you as you age. The website also contains some information on the City of Tucson’s Aging Services Department and what you need to do to find help in your community. You can find the same information on the Arizona State Seniors Home Care Association. The Arizona State Seniors Home Care Association also gives you a list of resources that can provide information and support. This list includes online programs and assistance that you can utilize in order to stay independent.
