Hall John B Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine are a PhD program with an emphasis on Chinese Medicine. It is offered at the Center for Complementary Medicine Research in Phoenix, Arizona. It was founded in 1994 by Dr. Stephen W. Young. Dr. Young is a member of the American Oriental Medical Association and serves as a committee member of the National Council of Oriental Medicine. In addition to the doctorate program, he has also developed several additional courses in Chinese medicine.
The course curriculum and structure of the MSC program is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine program. The first two years of the program are devoted to a set of clinical training in Chinese herbal medicine. This is followed by an internship that is focused on the study of Chinese herbal medicine and how it relates to the Chinese culture. The students will also receive hands-on instruction in acupuncture treatment and therapeutic manipulation of the body. In addition to this, they will also receive a good understanding of acupuncture theory. The final two years of the program will provide a general examination and a final exam. The MSC program is also accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
