Drug rehab is the process of psychotherapeutical or medical treatment for dependence on psychoactive medications like alcohol, street drugs like marijuana, prescription medicines like heroin or cocaine, or psychoactives like amphetamines or opiate pain killers. This kind of rehabilitation can be done in a number of different ways and for a wide variety of people. The most common method for treating the addiction to these drugs is through therapy. It works on many levels by helping the individual cope with the stresses caused by drug abuse while at the same time giving them the opportunity to change their behavior, and even learn to develop a healthier way of life.

In order to get the most out of drug rehabilitation, it is important that an individual go through the process in an environment that they can relate with, and one that will teach them how to live a healthy, positive lifestyle. This is especially important if the addict has no family that they are able to interact with and who can support them in the healing process. There are also some cases where the addict may not be able to get into a proper rehabilitation program because of their criminal past, mental illnesses, or other mental problems. In these cases, an individual will usually go through a short term rehab program and then move onto a long-term rehab where they will undergo a detoxification program before they are finally ready to enter the long-term rehab.

When a person is going through drug rehab, they will have to learn how to live without drugs. They will have to learn how to set realistic goals and to be realistic in their expectations about what will happen after they leave rehab. This means that they have to work to stay sober, as well as learn to face life without the drug. It will take some time to recover from the addiction but over time the benefits of going through a rehab will more than make up for the time spent in the program. An individual will benefit psychologically and physically after they get through the recovery process; but the most important thing is that the person will feel better, be better prepared to take their life back, and not be tempted again.
