The addict will have regular visits to his or her treatment center from a designated staff member of the treatment center. During these visits, the patient will be assigned a private doctor, nurses and therapists, along with his or her family. All staff members and doctors must complete specific training to treat patients and their condition before they are allowed to return to public life.
Once the patient is stabilized at his or her treatment center, the patient may return home. When returning home, the addict should follow the recommendations of his or her attending medical staff in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Detoxification is one way to help a person recover from drug use and alcohol dependence. A thorough evaluation and counseling will then be administered to the patient to help him or her overcome any fears that the patient may have associated with substance abuse. The patient will be provided with the medications and other resources necessary to achieve sobriety and to regain control over his or her life. If it is determined that the individual can handle withdrawal from the drug of choice, he or she may be prescribed an outpatient drug treatment program or inpatient drug rehabilitation.
