As the American Legion celebrates their 40th Anniversary they are asking for volunteers to help them prepare and organize a Veterans Day Parade. The American Legion is one of America’s oldest and most distinguished veteran organizations and has been supporting many military veterans through programs and services for decades. In fact there are more than 50 branches throughout the United States and they support the Department of Veterans Affairs and all of our Armed Forces. Since the inception of the US Army the US Military has been a proud member of the American Legion. The American Legion works to honor America’s soldiers and veterans through many different programs and one of their biggest events of the year is their Annual Veteran’s Day Parade.
It is a highly anticipated parade that will take place in a historic building that was formerly a Veteran’s Hospital. For over one hundred years the American Legion has been raising funds to help fund the organization’s activities and services. One of their main goals is to keep the veteran and military community well-fed and happy.
All local volunteers are asked to volunteer at least one hour each and every day. They are also expected to attend a special meeting where they will be given a map and detailed instructions about what they need to do. If you are interested in becoming a part of the parade you can contact any local American Legion Post. It is not necessary to volunteer for the entire parade but it certainly does help with the planning and preparation. You can also volunteer as a driver and one of the volunteers will act as your driver. If you are unable to help with the planning or the logistics then just give them a call and ask to speak with someone else who can assist.
