Behavioral Health Group (BHFG) has been making strides in providing quality services for the treatment of substance abuse through the provision of addiction treatment options and the development of new therapies programs and services. Through its vision to be a leader in addiction treatment and to deliver world-class care it has strived to provide care in a cost-effective manner and have developed innovative programs that provide a comprehensive approach to the treatment of substance abuse. Through its partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services it offers support and services that are tailored to meet the unique needs of every patient in the treatment of substance abuse. The mission of BHFG is to empower patients and their families and to make recovery possible. Today BHFG announced the addition of Vivek Murthy PhD and Leana Wen PhD to its advisory board.
Dr. Vivek Murthy is a professor of medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and a senior lecturer at the department of psychiatry at the University of California Los Angeles. He is also a clinical professor of medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. In this capacity he is leading the field of neuropsychopharmacology which is the study of mental illnesses and substance abuse through the use of neuroscience. Dr. Murthy is also a member of the Scientific Review Panel of the FDA. Dr. Murthy is an author of several books and articles on the neurobiology of drug addiction and was recently named as one of the National Academy of Sciences’ top 50 researchers in his field by the prestigious journal Nature. Dr. Wen is a research psychiatrist in the psychiatry department of the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester. She also has published extensively on the neurobiology of substance abuse and has served as associate editor for the Journal of the American Medical Association’s Journal of Pharmacotherapy.
Addiction specialists from this Behavioral Health Group will bring a unique perspective to their activities. Their combined knowledge and experience will help BHFG continue to lead the field of substance abuse and lead the nation in providing quality care to patients who suffer from substance abuse.
