Community Action Agency (CAA) is a non-profit public or private organization which carries out the Community Action program which has been introduced by the1964 Economic Opportunity Act to combat poverty among the people in America. This program has been launched to promote free enterprise and voluntary cooperation among the people of different communities. It encourages and supports community initiatives. It also tries to encourage economic growth in various community sectors by providing technical assistance to the communities.
The CAA serves the interest of all local government agencies by encouraging and supporting the local community in their welfare work. It works towards improving the infrastructure building roads and highways setting up schools developing healthcare centres and providing employment opportunities to the community members. This agency also provides grants for development projects and other community projects. The CAA has a wide network of partners who collaborate with each other for development of projects. However some projects are not supported by this organization. The CAA is also involved in several research programs related to social issues poverty development education etc.
Community Action Agency believes in social responsibility and helps the community by providing various services to the community. It also makes sure that all the funds that it disburses is used properly. The CAA is responsible for promoting education medical assistance housing and employment opportunities. These programs are carried out through a strategic program approach with the help of various resources and instruments.
