I’m not sure how many times I’ve heard of Hickey Terry Ms in Tucson AZ. I think I heard her name as well as that of the founder of the M.A.T. University in Tucson, H. Terry Mertz. I was really impressed with her story and the education she received. Her story of how she ended up living the same type of lifestyle she was raised in, without any real financial resources, was very inspiring and very interesting to read. Hickey seems to have achieved the same kind of lifestyle she’s been talking about throughout her life.
I’ve talked to people who were able to relate to her story, which she shared and this made me realize that there are a lot of us who are trying to achieve the same thing she accomplished. People like Hickey, are living in a van that they’re currently driving, living on their own and barely managing to pay the rent. The only things they can afford to spend money on are food and gasoline. She had never worked at a job that was steady enough to sustain her until this day. She has been able to achieve what a lot of other people who were born in this country have failed to achieve.

She was able to achieve this kind of freedom because her father didn’t have any money. His business went out of business and he was unemployed for six months. He wasn’t too happy about it so he decided to send Hickey and her brother on a two week long trip to see his hometown.
