Drug rehab is the procedure of therapeutic or medical treatment for dependence on psychostimulants like marijuana, prescription medications, and stimulants like cocaine, heroin and amphetamines. Drug abuse refers to a state of drug-taking in which the individual engages in repeated substance abuse using different drugs or substances. The most common types of substance abuse are alcohol, marijuana, and methamphetamines. Psychostimulants are classified under the class of central nervous system depressants because they have an ability to alter certain brain chemicals such as dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine. These drugs were used to treat anxiety, depression, schizophrenia and epilepsy. These drugs can also induce hallucinations, seizures, hypertension, and even personality disorders.

Drug rehab centers are designed to help addicted people overcome substance addiction through the use of various behavioral therapies, group therapy, individual counseling, and educational and vocational programs. It helps individuals overcome the mental and physical effects of substance abuse through the use of psychosocial and physical therapies. In the case of individuals who are addicted to psychostimulants, their intake of psychostimulants is followed by a period of detoxification in order to prepare them for rehabilitation in a drug-free environment. This detoxification process involves both physical and psychological therapies so that the individual will be better able to deal with his/her withdrawal symptoms. The drug rehab center can help the person return to his/her normal life after completing the rehabilitation.

Drug rehab centers offer a number of services to addicts. They can provide education programs, group therapy, individual counseling, and vocational training programs. The programs provided by the drug rehab center are tailor-made to suit the needs of the patient. These programs may include group counseling, one-on-one counseling, and educational activities. The center can also train professionals in rehabilitation in the use of various methods of intervention, so that the addict can avoid relapse into substance abuse.
