West Alabama Mental Health Center is an integrated local mental health facility located in the Black Belt area of West Alabama serving Hale, Choctaw, Greene, Marengo, Sumter, and Greene counties. WAMHC provides a full range of mental health services and residential programs for families and individuals who experience trauma as a result of traumatic events, accidents, or abuse. Located at 711 Bissonnet Road, WAMHC was designed to assist those suffering from mental illness with an integrated approach to treatment through the integration of clinical services, individual, group, and family therapy. In addition to its residential programs, the Center offers in-clinic services for parents of children and families with developmental disabilities. The Center specializes in providing personalized attention for each client.\n\n \n\nWAMHC offers a variety of programs and treatments to meet the needs of individuals who suffer from a mental disorder, developmental disabilities or substance abuse. The Center offers a variety of therapies that help to reduce symptoms, provide the foundation for recovery and strengthen the emotional and physical foundation for life. Counseling, medications, group therapies, and group meetings are all offered in an effort to help individuals and families to address mental illness, substance abuse or other problems. The Center also provides education programs to encourage better family involvement, improve academic success and decrease risks of teen substance abuse and delinquency.\n\n \n\nWith a mission of providing quality mental health services to individuals and families, WAMHC has helped thousands of people through the provision of quality services. With the most recent addition of a mental health clinic, the Center has expanded its service offerings and increased its ability to provide personalized care and treatment to those who need it most. The Center offers both in-clinic services and outreach services to ensure that its services reach a large number of individuals and families. With a long standing commitment to continuing education and research, the Center continues to make improvements in its services so that it continues to provide quality service to its community. WAMHC has been rated an A+ by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
