All Desert Life patients are required to complete a medical, physical and psychological evaluation. This evaluation will determine whether or not the patient is a candidate for our services. A brief history of the patient’s medical history is taken, along with evaluations of the patient’s current medications and the effects of prior therapies. A comprehensive physical exam, mental status test and laboratory tests are done to evaluate the patient’s mental health. The assessment procedure may also include a laboratory test of the brain to determine any abnormalities and to identify the patient’s particular needs. After the assessment is completed, the doctor will determine if the patient is a suitable candidate for our services and determine the best course of action.
