The New Life Center was founded in Tennessee in January 2020 as the Men’s Healthcare Coalition of Middle TN (MHN). The organization was recently given a $25000 federal mini-grant to establish capacity in the area of father involvement in family planning. The center is an active member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) which supports its mission by sponsoring several conferences and workshops. The center has also worked closely with the Women’s Commission for Health (WCH) and worked with the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health (WHHS) to create and manage the Center’s website.
The main objectives of the New Life program are to provide quality affordable family planning education to men who are experiencing unplanned parenthood in addition to being an effective resource for families who have recently lost a child. The center focuses on educating both men and women about the importance of proper nutrition the importance of physical activity and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. The center also provides access to a nationwide network of resources and information for new dads including support groups forums and webinars. It conducts informational sessions with the assistance of volunteers who work closely with staff members and volunteers. New Life staff members work to ensure that all men who visit the center have a positive experience and that they feel comfortable speaking about their experiences at the New Life center.
Men in need of prenatal care may be able to obtain assistance through the Affordable Care Act. Families in need of help in the area of fatherhood may also qualify for assistance through the Center’s programs. All participants are provided access to the services offered at the New Life center in order to meet the specific needs of each individual.
