The Salvation Army is an international and a non-denominational charitable organisation which is dedicated to helping the poor and needy in every nation on the globe. The organisation has an estimated worldwide membership of approximately 1.7 million consisting mainly of members officers-at-large of volunteers soldiers and volunteers. The Salvation Army’s mission statement states that its primary objective is to help the needy of the world by providing assistance to those who have no homes and are suffering from hunger cold and disease.
The organisation is completely dependent on donations from members partners and volunteers and as such one-time donation from members is mandatory and voluntary donation from the members is encouraged. The organisation accepts monetary donations but requires that all members contribute equally in order to run the programme effectively. Since the organisation runs its operations solely on donations it requires regular fundraising to meet the needs of its needy members. The organisation does not accept monetary donations from government agencies or any other non-profit organisations however since the organisation is entirely voluntary it can accept donations from any person or organisation.
