Sexual assault is one of the most common types of crimes committed against women. The definition of sexual assault is any criminal activity or an act of a criminal nature by a member of the opposite sex against a victim who is unable to consent because of either mental or physical incapacity. This does not necessarily mean that the person accused of committing the act is guilty of sexual assault. For instance if a man forces a woman to perform a sex act against her will but the woman is not able to consent this is not considered sexual assault.
