Mental Health is defined as the quality or total absence of mental disorder. It’s the state of a person who is “functional at a satisfying level of behavioral and emotional adjustment.” This means that they are happy, healthy and functioning normally in their life. A person with Mental Health is able to meet the needs of others with a good level of self-worth and self-confidence.
The majority of people with Mental Disorder are either not aware of it or don’t know how to treat it. They live a very chaotic life. They are always on the run from one bad incident to another. In many cases these episodes come from the abuse and neglect that were done by those that care for them. Some of the other conditions that can affect a person’s mental well-being include depression, anxiety, substance abuse, psychosis, bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Even though a person may have the above listed disorders, there is no guarantee that a person will be diagnosed with a Mental Disease.
The Mental Health of an individual is determined by several factors. A person with mental health is usually seen by their doctor every three years or so. The doctor will look into a few factors such as the severity of the symptoms, their age, their family history, their past medical history, and if they are eating well and getting proper exercise. Once a doctor has determined that a person does have a mental disorder, they will start working on making that person healthy again. Once a person has been properly diagnosed, they will be given the proper treatment options that they need to get healthy and function properly once again.
