Level 2 trauma centers more likely to identify at-risk drinkers

while roughly 3.7 percent of the patients in the level 1 trauma center were found to have a score consistent with alcohol dependence, 7.2 percent of patients in the level 2 trauma center were dealing with dependency — nearly twice the number of level 1 trauma center patients.

The study concluded that SBI is an effective method of determining which patients are in need of addiction recovery treatment, but noted that further study was necessary in order to determine the efficacy of the SBI among level 2 trauma center patients.
