Unused prescription opioids have fueled the opioid epidemic

a medication disposal locator and some drugstores such as Walgreens, Rite Aid and CVS provide take-back services for unused meds. Hospital, pharmacies, and designated fire and police stations also offer these services.

National Prescription Take Back Day will be offering services to those who have leftover medications on October 28, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event looks to support communities with easy access to responsible and safe disposal of medications that are no longer needed, while also teaching the public about the dangers associated with prescription drug misuse.
