Drug rehab treatment facilities to help individuals recover from alcohol use disorders. Some treatment centers are even age or gender-specific, which helps patients feel more at ease in the treatment environment. Many outpatient and inpatient treatment centers are available as well. Patients are monitored by physicians and nurses while they are undergoing treatment and monitored closely during discharge. Drug rehab centers take special care of patients suffering from mental illnesses. In a treatment center, a patient can go home after an individual or group therapy session or after attending classes on a regular basis. These classes teach patients how to interact with other people, cope with stress, and develop new skills. A patient undergoing therapy can expect to learn self-care and how to cope with stressful situations. A doctor or nurse will evaluate the progress of a person during therapy sessions and recommend changes that can be made to improve the patient’s recovery.
A medical exam, physical assessment and a drug test are mandatory for patients entering any type of alcohol treatment facility. All patients must also participate in random drug testing. This testing process ensures that patients do not return to their drug use habits after they leave a treatment program. After the treatment program, the patient is provided with follow-up support groups. The goal of the drug rehabilitation program is to improve the patient’s quality of life and enable him or her to lead a productive life. After receiving the necessary medical, psychological and psychiatric services, the patient should return to a drug-free life.
