The Mid-South Health System Inc. has recently opened a new Alcohol Addiction and Mental Health Center known as the Mid-South Mental Health Center DBA Mid-South Health Systems in Corning Arkansas. “Mid-South Healthcare System is a leading outpatient mental health care company serving over 6 million people in Arkansas Mississippi Tennessee and Louisiana” said Mary Hoehn Senior Director of Communications at Mid-South Healthcare System. “This new center in Corning Arkansas provides the most comprehensive care and treatment for individuals with mental illnesses substance abuse and co-occurring medical conditions. The new facility is the first in Arkansas to use a community mental health care model. The center will work to provide affordable high-quality services for all residents.” “Mental health needs and concerns are the same as those of any patient” added Dr. Robert Hoke PhD Executive Director of Mid-South Healthcare System. “We need to improve the delivery of care to reduce costs while treating people. As part of the agreement between Mid-South Healthcare System and Arisa Health there are several additional mental and substance abuse treatment programs. These treatments will include inpatient and outpatient treatment options as well as case management services. Arisa Health will also be handling the administrative support. “The collaboration between a mental health care provider and an outpatient behavioral health center that provide treatment for substance abuse and co-occurring medical conditions has tremendous potential” noted Dr. David Henrich Assistant Director for Research Clinical Programs Department of Psychology and Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
“A behavior health system such as this one will benefit patients in a number of ways including reduced rates of hospital visits and emergency room visits better access to medical care and improved access to care for prescription medication and psychiatric treatments” Dr. Henrich stated. “It may also provide better care to those with a mental illness or substance abuse problem by making it possible for them to receive the treatment they need in a setting that meets their individual needs.”
