The Northwest Alabama Mental Health System is a community mental health agency that provides treatment and care to people who may be experiencing issues relating to mental illness, stress, alcohol, drugs and suicidal thoughts. The goal of the Northwest Alabama Mental Health System is to help individuals suffering from mental illness or mental distress and their family members or other caregivers. This community mental health agency works with all ages and can provide individual, family and group treatment and services. They provide a full range of services that will work with an individual to help them overcome their mental illness or treat it when it has already begun to take over their lives.
The Northwest Alabama Mental Health Service offers the following types of services to families and individuals: Individual and Family Therapy, Group and Family Counseling, inpatient treatment, emergency help, outpatient treatment, residential care, residential treatment, detoxification, outpatient treatment, psychiatric community care, specialty care, family and marriage therapy, medication treatment, group therapy, respite care, and more. These services are available at our two sites: Northwest Alabama Mental Health Center located in Birmingham; and Northwest Alabama State Mental Health Centers located in Bessemer, Montgomery, and Mobile. Our mission is to provide the highest quality of care to our patients and to ensure that they are receiving the best possible treatment. We work with patients who are experiencing serious problems with their mental health, as well as those who may just be having a hard time dealing with day-to-day living. We also offer services to help families cope with the difficult times that they are going through. We have established ourselves as leaders in mental health care throughout the state of Alabama and have been providing treatment and support services for years. Our goal is to be a first-class mental health provider for every person in our community.
