Mental Health is the condition or state of mental health or mental illness in a person. It is the condition of a person who is “working at a satisfactory level on an adequate basis of behavior, emotional and mental adjustment.” People with mental illnesses can suffer from mood swings, sleep disorders, substance abuse, depression and anxiety. They may also become violent.
Mental Health can be divided into two sections. The first one is called the General category, which includes disorders that affect the thinking, behavior, communication and the personality. The second one is called the Specific category, which is composed of disorders that affect only a particular area of the person. There are many mental illnesses, which affect a person’s personality and thinking. These include paranoid schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, bi-polar, autism and dementia. Specific mental disorders can be grouped into the following categories. They are: personality disorder, depression, anxiety disorder, social phobia, generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder.
Mental Health is often not talked about. This is because it is an illness which requires medical attention and the support of a qualified professional. A medical professional will help a person to manage the disorder and get through the crisis. The patient needs to be admitted to a mental hospital and he/she needs to be treated by doctors who specialize in mental illness. Sometimes a medication may be prescribed for the patient. In some cases, he/she may also need to undergo therapy to cure the mental disorder.
