The Alabama Psychotherapy & Wellness Center are one of the oldest, if not the oldest, of its kind in the country. As a matter of fact, it has been around since 1978. This center specializes in a variety of therapies that are based on several aspects of human behavior, including human growth, self-awareness, mental health and other psychological concerns that may arise with aging, addiction, depression and other problems. This facility offers various levels of services as well as programs that can be tailored to fit the needs of each individual.
The center was founded by Dr. Burns Joan W. Ph. In his position as director, he works with all members of staff to help with any issues that they may be having. He also conducts an annual symposium that provides information to both employees and patients. In addition to the regular programs and treatments, this facility has also started offering some wellness programs for children and teenagers. Programs include acupuncture and yoga for children and teenaged patients as well as a wide range of other programs.
Dr. Burns Joan W. Ph. was also an assistant professor at the University of Cincinnati for four years. During this time, he worked with many children and adults suffering from addiction. During this time he also learned from these patients the importance of working with a professional, as well as the value of learning new skills for treating their conditions and problems.
