The story of the Benson Desert Sunrise as told in the film version revolves around a wealthy oil man who has a massive fleet of flying aircraft with the intent of extracting oil from the Arabian desert. Unfortunately when he makes an unsuccessful attempt to do this he and his associates are arrested. After being imprisoned for a period of time he escapes and sets out to locate a friend of his who was also imprisoned. In doing so he ends up helping to defeat a terrorist group that wishes to destroy an oil pipeline through the middle of the desert using it as a weapon to cause mass destruction in the area.
One of the most well-known characters is the character of Danny Devito who plays the role of one of the terrorists who plans on using the pipeline as a way to wreak havoc in the area. In the film Danny portrays two sides of the same coin. He is the young handsome rebel who is willing to sacrifice his life if it means protecting the oil industry and his friends. He is also the younger brother of one of the terrorists who is not too happy with Danny’s decision to take up this fight. His brother as well is equally as passionate in his opposition to what Danny is doing.
While David and Danny play their part as true-blooded lovers both are faced with the dilemma of whether or not they want to live a life of freedom and liberty or die as criminals. It is for these reasons that the film is such a popular one among audiences and movie buffs. The film is so successful that it has even inspired the production of a second installment. In fact the first part of the sequel entitled The Big Fat Kill became quite successful at the box office. For those who have not seen the film you really owe it to yourself to see it and experience the brilliance of David and Danny. Not only will you be entertained but you will be happy to know that your home is safe again.
