Drug rehab usually includes both residential and outpatient treatment programs. Residential treatment programs are intended for those suffering from severe addiction and require intensive, personalized care. This type of rehab program focuses on treating individual needs and addressing the underlying causes of addiction. Residential programs usually last from one to five months depending on the severity of addiction. Some programs may need several treatments while others only need one. Treatment services provided at these types of facilities tend to be more focused on long-term and intensive interventions.
Outpatient drug rehabilitation programs on the other hand are meant for those who are not addicted to drugs. They are designed to help those who suffer from mild addiction to treat the physical, psychological, and emotional symptoms associated with drug abuse. These programs usually take around 45 days to complete. Because they are geared towards short-term recovery, outpatient programs do not require any long-term commitment on the part of the patient. Patients who choose outpatient programs can return to their usual activities once they have completed their treatment without having to worry about their recovery, although there are also some long-term residential treatment programs available for those who choose to go through this process.
