Drug Rehab is the term used to describe the treatment of a drug addict with support and encouragement to stop using drugs. It includes both outpatient and inpatient care, which aims to help drug abusers stop abusing substances like marijuana, meth, cocaine and even caffeine. Drug rehab can be very successful in stopping drug abuse. It takes time to get through withdrawal. This will make the addict more susceptible to relapse and to take drugs again. To reduce the risk of relapse, the program needs to offer a safe environment where the addicts can get back to normal living again. It also needs to be a program that addresses the addict’s mental problems and the issues that are influencing his/her substance abuse.
Drug rehab centers usually start by detoxifying the addict from the substance. There are several programs available in the field of drug rehabs. These programs include residential treatment, inpatient treatment, outpatient treatment and other special programs. The most common treatment offered at drug rehabs is residential treatment. This consists of detoxification from drugs and various other treatments to ensure that the addict is not prone to future drug abuse.
The residential rehabilitation involves staying in an environment that is close to nature, which is devoid of people. The patients are kept in residential settings which are equipped with all necessary facilities. These include safe and clean living conditions, private rooms, therapists and counselors, doctors and nurses, medication reminders, and group therapies. Drug rehab programs at residential rehabs are also offered for those people who are not ready for a prolonged stay at home or who do not have the time to spend there. They are offered outpatient care where the patients are given medications and support to cope up with the demands of living away from home.
