Taylor and fellow commissioner Dave DeVoy indicated that they would rather continue using the budget that the county approved. That was opposed by their other commissioner Glen Waring, who believes that they should seek extra funding, $125,000, as well as provide overtime for staff.
Taylor is concerned that if CORE is halted, it will lead to services not being provided to inmates who need them and sentences being rewritten.
Andrew Livernois, a Belknap County attorney, highlighted that many people who have been in the CORE program have valued the drug treatment program.
There has been no decision made at the moment on how the commissioners plan to keep CORE going.
