Alabama governor updates opioid addiction council

regulatory, legislative, and policy action. The strategic plan is meant to include clear objectives and goals, along with metrics for accurately measuring the progress toward those goals.

Among the elements that may be included in the plan are a recommendation for improving access to the potentially life-saving opioid overdose reversal drug naloxone, improved education on opioid addiction for all Alabamians, and expanding access to addiction recovery programs and support groups.

In addition to the initial report, due in December of this year, the executive order stipulates that the council will continue to provide an annual report on opioid addiction to the governor each December, detailing the council’s efforts and progress toward their goals.
