Mingus Mountain Academy (MMA) is an all girls alternative high school located in Prescott Valley Arizona United States of America. It is run by Sequel Youth Development and Family Services. The MMA provides a unique hands-on program in nutrition fitness art sports psychology and leadership. The mission of the MMA is to assist and empower the students to become responsible citizens in their communities. It also aims to foster a sense of belonging and responsibility amongst its students.
As of now MMA has added a mental health services to its offerings. A counselor is assigned to the students on campus. The counselor works with each student to identify any issues or concerns they may have relating to themselves or any family member. These issues can be anything such as depression anxiety fear loneliness eating disorders or other problems. It is hoped that these counselors will be able to provide assistance in overcoming any problems that the students may have. Mental health services are available in several levels of support such as individual group family and even family therapy. Family counseling is offered to students with children or even students with disabilities.
Students who participate in mental health services are provided with an evaluation individual counseling and medication treatment. There are also activities to keep them busy during the day. One of the most popular activities is sports and exercise. There are also activities such as art classes and drama. Martial Arts classes are also offered in the MMA. This is done to help train students to be fit and physically capable of handling themselves while attending school.
